Adult Language Specialist – Wolastoqey
Contract CHSMES
Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the principal, the adult language specialist will work with small groups of staff at CHSMES to help with including both conversational language and classroom language. The objective is to Increase Wolastoqey language capacity of all staff at CHSMES to help language acquisition for all learners at CHSMES. This successful candidate will work 2 days a week at CHSMES.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and plan for instructing both small and whole groups as well as preparation of visual aids and learning resources throughout the school
- Sharing learning resources and required materials in a timely manner with collaborating schools and organizations
- Collaborate with both the Elder and Wolastoqey language teacher, and other language specialists throughout the project to ensure consistent language throughout the school.
- Identify language anxiety in second language learners and create strategies to reduce anxiety and assist learners
Qualifications:
- Experience with adapting language materials, resources, assessments and learning outcomes for staff needs
- Fluent in Wolastoqey language
- Experience with adult language education is considered an asset
- Clean criminal record check
