Information on COVID-19 Social Assistance Top-Ups

Sitansisk Social Development has received additional targeted funds for on-reserve community members collecting social assistance. These funds will provide a top-up of $400 and a St. Mary’s Supermarket Food Security gift card valued at $200.

These funds are only available to those who are eligible for and are collecting social assistance, meaning individuals who are not currently employed, are not collecting employment insurance or other government benefits, receiving a student allowance, or receiving income from other sources.

To be eligible for this top-up, an individual had to be drawing social assistance on January 1, 2022. However, Sitansisk Chief and Council elected to expand eligibility to include those who meet the criteria for receiving social assistance as result of being laid off from band-owned businesses (SMEC, Retail, etc.) due to the lockdown measures introduced this month.
